Memorabilia

This blog serves as an anthology of the objects, people, and places that have made up my past, make up my present and together pull on the strings of memory to shape my perspective on life.

Your favorite childhood toy, the worn-in sneakers you beat down with payment, your trusty little black dress, a silver bracelet, a tattered notebook, a box of photographs these are just some of the physical objects that take up room in closets and cabinets.

Now, step outside: the tree lined street, you know every crack and dent, the Parish tower that watches over the neighborhood, the local cafe that lures you with its scent of familiarity, and so you graze toward it amidst the morning traffic and intoxicating summer heat, because after all, this belongs to you. The physical objects we own, wear, visit, those that exist in nature like the ocean or man-made like the high-rises that enclose the city, all of these images provide us with a sense of identity.
